MARCH 29, 2020 UPDATE:       Good afternoon CEAP Secondary Students and Parents,

First of all, we hope that you and your loved ones are doing well.  We have missed you all, and there is nothing we’d rather do on Monday than have everything back to normal.  Unfortunately, we will have to wait for that, and look to doing things differently for awhile. The province has suspended “face to face” instruction and support and has tasked us with providing meaningful learning opportunities that students can engage in from home.  Our goal is to continue to be an important and positive part of your family’s life.

We have been working with the entire district leadership team for the past week, and will be working with our teachers next week to begin to address the following Ministry of Education priorities:

  1. Maintain a healthy and safe environment for all students, families and employees

  2. Provide the services needed to support children (to 12 years of age) of our essential service workers in the community.  Due to this age range, the secondary school setting is not affected.

  3. Support vulnerable students who may need special assistance

  4. Provide continuity of educational opportunities for all students

  • Only Mr. Bold will be in the building on a regular basis.

  • Teachers will be making contact with their students either via Email or using the Moodle platform.  Expect either an email or moodle message contact early in the week. We want to establish connection with students and families as we move forward with our planning around continuity of learning

  • For all students with lockers (ex: TIDES students), we will be working with KSS administration to establish a schedule for students/parents to retrieve any necessary items from school.  This will likely occur later in the week. Until we have this process determined, we ask that students/parents to please not access the building. As entry and exit requires further deep cleaning, a process needs to be established PRIOR to opening up this opportunity.

The upcoming weeks will NOT be business as usual.  Districts have been tasked with both supporting students that need extra support to be successful and providing meaningful learning opportunities.  All students regardless of what SD69 school they are enrolled at need to receive an equitable educational program. Like all schools, CEAP will be balancing what course CURRICULUM needs to be covered this year, with the concept of “CONTINUITY OF LEARNING” which sees teachers provide students with a wide variety of learning opportunities.

Teachers will work towards connecting with students in their respective classes and communicating what previous curriculum needs to be addressed (via Moodle, or Google class environment for example) and also providing suggestions for learning activities in the upcoming weeks.  The focus will likely be on literacy, numeracy and core competency development. This will look different; we will find a way to support our learners, but teachers need some time to plan how to best support our students in our current context. Ideas and suggested activities may involve subject area explorations and inquiry, but these activities will not be a continuation of course specific curriculum or assessment.

We ask for your patience as we work through these details over the course of the next week, and we will present to you a cohesive plan for “CONTINUITY OF LEARNING”  when we complete it within our specific CEAP context.

We are in very fluid times, and it is important to stay abreast of our changing environments.   The best source of information is our School District website – or our school website –  Superintendent, Dr. Keven Elder, has posted his latest communications here.  You can also email me if you have questions or concerns.

We know that many of you are anxious, nervous, worried about what the upcoming weeks will bring.  We know that we have very trying times ahead, and we know that we are going to make some mistakes.  Our plan is to take things slowly and carefully, and to act with compassion. We ask for your patience and 2-way communication along the way.  You can contact us via email (preferred method for quicker response) or phone:

Many thanks, and I will be in touch with more information later this week,

Sincerely, Don Bold, Principal of CEAP

TEST CODES / PASSWORDS:   Please note that when completing tests with CEAP, the following procedures will be adhered to:

  1. Pending any rare / individual circumstances, tests / quizzes requiring codes will be done in CEAP rooms under the supervision of CEAP teachers.
  2. Passwords will not be given directly to the student, instead, you will need to get ready for the test at your computer and a CEAP staff member will type the password in for you.
  3. With extenuating circumstances, a parent or teacher at another school may agree to supervise your test. The CEAP teacher will then email them the policies which they will need to agree to before passwords are sent electronically to them.

Login Information

Your student Moodle login and password may have been updated due to District Network Upgrading.

Here is how to login if your old username and password are not working:

  • Username: student number
  • Password: your birth date in the following format mdyyyy
    • Example: Feb 9, 1999 is 291999
    • Example: Dec 14, 1998 is 12141998

If you are logging in remotely (i.e. from home) this must remain your password UNTIL you come into a school and use a SD69 networked computer to change your password. Logging in as described above will give you access to your Moodle course immediately.
